Sylvain DUBUISSON

THE MOBILIER NATIONAL AND THE BRINGING OUT OF SYLVAIN DUBUISSON'S PIECES OF FURNITURE AND OBJECTS

Created in 1964 on the initiative of André Malraux, Cultural Affairs Minister, and Jean Coural, the Mobilier national Research and Creation Workshop (Atelier de Recherche et de Creation) is responsible for the study and creation of furniture and decorating objects. The workshop is organized as an engineering and design department which calls upon external conceptors (designers, artists, interior designers), to whom contemporary furniture drawings and models are ordered.

In over forty years, the ARC created more than five hundred prototypes in collaboration with a hundred creators and, since its creation, did not cease exploring new technologies and new materials.  These creations can be considered as significant witnesses contemporary public orders history: witnesses of styles and ways of life, of the use of materials and technical progress or sometimes simply the meeting between a specific need, at a convenient period, and an idea. From the encounter with Sylvain Dubuisson, a collection of unique objects or with limited manufacturing was born, the production of which underlines the research of excellence, conform to the tradition and the means of the Mobilier national, closer to craft than to manufactured objects

2006 - In agreement with the Mobilier national, six pieces of this unit will soon be brought out by Creative Agent Consultants, director : Françoise Darmon.

With this collaboration, the Mobilier national joined the intention of its original founders.
