Sylvain DUBUISSON

2006 FRANÇOISE DARMON, DIRECTOR OF CREATIVE AGENT CONSULTANTS, BRINGS OUT A HISTORICAL COLLECTION OF FURNITURE DESIGNED BY SYLVAIN DUBUISSON *

Sylvain Dubuisson, architect, and designer, shares a long-term complicity with Francoise Darmon, director of Editions Creative Agent Consultants, since 1987, and trusted her for a new project.

Collector of conceptual art, author of the book "Sense in Utility" and of a television series "Stories of Objects"; consultant; lecturer; director of Creative Agent Consultants since 1984, Francoise Darmon is a staunch defender of the process named Du Sens dans l'Utile.

For Sylvain Dubuisson, "an object gives form to thought. The one-off pieces are acceptable if they are part of a series, a moment of investigation into realm of objects".

Sylvain Dubuisson is one of the artists who worked closely with the Research and Creation Workshop (ARC) of the State Furniture Unit (Mobilier National), for the refitting of the Minister's office in the Ministry for Culture (1990-1992), a large order which continued will until 2003. Some of the pieces are now brought out by Creative Agent Consultants, among which the "Suite Ingénue" armchair, the "MB chair", the "Le Sourire" pedestal table, the 2003 chair.

The pieces are example of public investment, and involvement in contemporary creation: they illustrate changing life styles, new ways of using different materials, technical progress, or even chance meetings of a need together with an idea.

The pieces will be presented together with the exhibition "The hidden side of useful objects" dedicated to Sylvain Dubuisson at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Bordeaux on October 20th, 2006, until January 29th, 2007.

* Other pieces come from the collections at the FNAC, Decorative Arts Museum of Paris, or the VIA.
